School Grade 8

Daniel was born in Wasamo village, Mfangano West Location. He is the youngest child in a family of 8 children, i.e. three girls but one passed on and five boys. His father died in 2014 leaving Daniel and his siblings under the care of his mother who is just a peasant farmer.

Daniel’s elder sibling Abraham Peter is learning at Wakula Mixed Secondary school in form two, Jacob Otieno who is the second born is learning at Uozi Secondary school and is also in form two, Hellen who is the third born is married, Samson the fourth born did his grade 8 National exams and was enrolled at Wakula Mixed Secondary school in form one while Daltone and Sylvia are all learning at Wasamo primary school in grades 6 and 4 respectively.

Being in a big family, Daniel’s mother struggles so much to make ends meet for her children. This forces her to embark on some odd jobs like selling firewood in order to provide the basic needs for her children which have not been easy. More often Daniel and his siblings would be sent from school for levies and school fees and would take time before they weren able to return to school; something which has interfered with his academics. Getting three meals has also been a problem especially when there is poor harvest.

While Daniel is at home he takes 2 meals a  day, sleeps in his mothers iron roofed mud wall house on mattress, covers self with a blanket.

Daniel joined GGCC in January 2015 after being selected by the vetting committee. He is happy to join GGCC and he promises to work hard.

In GGCC he takes all the three meals and sleep comfortably.

He loves playing football and he would like to become a teacher when he grows up.
