Daniel was born in 2015 in Yokia village, Waware sub location, in Mfangano North location. He is the oldest of two children in his family. His father who was a teacher and the sole provider for the family died after a short illness leaving Daniel and his brother Griffins under the care of their mother who had no formal training or employment. Life has been very difficult for them since their father’s passing. Daniel’s mother works odd jobs, like fetching water or working in other’s gardens, to help provide for the boys, but it is usually not enough to meet their basic needs as well as pay for their education. Daniel’s mother relies on the help of relatives and friends when things are very tight.

Daniel has missed school when his mother could not afford to pay for him to attend. There have been times when they only have enough for two meals a day, one being porridge only for lunch. The vulnerability that Daniel faces at home makes him a great candidate for admission to GGCC. Prior to joining GGCC, he was learning at Tips School. His brother is learning at Masisi Primary School in grade PP1.

Daniel was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in PP1 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. His mother is so grateful to God for the opportunity for Daniel to learn at GGCC which is a great relief for her. Daniel is also excited to learn at GGCC. He loves the environment, especially the boarding aspect and also playing soccer together with his peers.  Daniel can be a kid and learn without interruption. He doesn’t have to worry about where food is going to come from and if there will be enough. He wants to work hard to be a doctor when he grows up.
