School Grade 9

Christiano comes from a family of 9 children, 4 girls and 5 boys. He is the sixth born. He was born in 2009 at Makira village in Mfangano Island, East Location. His father passed away leaving Christiano and his siblings under the care of thier mother, who is just a peasant farmer.

Except for the two oldest, Christiano’s siblings are enrolled in school. The oldest, Daisy, dropped out of school in grade 11 and got married. Kevin, the second oldest, finished grade 12 and joined National Youth Service, completing a course in plumbing. He has not been placed anywhere yet.

Taking care of such a large family, has not been easy for Christiano’s mother with the income generated from peasant farming. She often has to pick up other jobs to pay for just the basic needs of the family. Education was often put on the back burner and the kids were out of school until they could pay to return.

Christiano was admitted to GGCC in January of 2019 as orphaned and vulnerable child in grade 4. He is so excited to be at GGCC, a school he has admired for so long. He has promised to work hard in order to help his family. His best subjects are Mathematics and Languages.

During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer. He is in good health.
