School Grade 9

Cecil was born in 2009 in Wakinga village, in Mfangano East location. He is the youngest in a family of three children. Cecil’s mother was the breadwinner for the family, but after her death, things became very difficult. Cecil’s father was around, but unable to care for the children.  Cecil and his siblings were divided amongst his relatives. Cecil and his siblings are currently under the care of a maternal aunt who is a widow. The aunt has her own children to care for as well. The aunt works as a peasant farmer and often that does not provide enough income to provide for both the basic needs and educational needs of all of the children.

Cecil’s oldest sibling, Vivian, is learning at Rusinga Girls in Form 3. The second born, Valentine, is learning at Kagungu Primary School in grade 7. Cecil was learning at Kagungu before joining GGCC in grade 5.

Cecil was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in grade 5 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He is so grateful to God for the opportunity he has been granted to learn at GGCC. Her Aunt is equally grateful to the management of GGCC for their consideration. Cecil is happy and wants to work hard to achieve his life dream of becoming an engineer when he grows up. Cecil loves the teachers and his fellow pupils who are so friendly.

At GGCC, he will learn without fear or interruption of being sent home for lack of school levies.  He will get all the three meals which he was lacking back at home and this will boost his nutritional growth. During his leisure time, Cecil loves playing soccer. Cecil is suffering from ulcers.
