School Grade 6

Caroline was born in 2011 in Milundu village, Mfangano West location. She is the youngest child in a family of six children. Her father was the main provider for the family, but he died leaving Caroline and her siblings under the care of their mother. Life became extremely difficult for them as their mother only worked as a peasant farmer. The unpredictable nature of farming the land adds an increased burden, especially as they have experienced drought recently. She is often unable to provide the most basic of necessities such as 3 meals a day. There were times when porridge was the only thing they had to eat. They do not have electricity in their home either, which can add further burden on the family. Paying for school fees has also been difficult for Caroline’s mother. Missing classes when they couldn’t afford to send them has caused gaps in the children’s education.

Carolina’s oldest sister Wendy is married. Her oldest brother Geoffrey is in grade 12 at Orero Boys High School. The third born Christopher and fifth born, Shelton, are both learning at Wasamo Primary School in grades 8 and 3. The fourth born Maren is in grade 7 at Nyatambi Primary School.

Caroline was learning at Wasamo Primary School before joining GGCC. Caroline was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in grade 4 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. Her mother is so grateful to God for the opportunity that has been given to Caroline to learn at GGCC. Caroline is equally happy to join GGCC. She likes the school environment which is so conducive for learning. She likes her fellow pupils and the teachers who are so friendly. 

At GGCC, Caroline will now be able to concentrate on her studies without missing any classes. She would like to study to become a nurse.  During her leisure time, Caroline likes playing netball and volleyball. She is in good health.
