School Grade Kindergarten

Bryson is the first-born child in his family. He was born in 2017 in Uozi Village, in Mfangano South location. He is from a single parent family as his mother was in school and unmarried when she had him.  Currently, they are both living with his maternal grandmother. She is the sole breadwinner as Bryson’s mother is not working. Unfortunately, Bryson’s grandmother participates in peasant farming as her only source of income. This often does not generate enough of an income to fully support the family.

Because of the limited income, Bryson has faced many challenges, both academically and socially associated with the family’s poverty. Bryson has sometimes missed classes due to lack of school levies and scholastic materials. He lacked appropriate basic supplies as well, including a school uniform. While at home, Bryson sleeps in his grandmother’s house on a mat and covers himself with an old blanket. He drinks untreated lake water

Bryson joined GGCC in February of 2023 in PP1 as a vulnerable child. His grandmother and his mother are so grateful for the opportunity granted to him to learn at GGCC as this is a big relief to them. Bryson likes the school environment, and he plays freely with his peers. He would like to become a doctor when he grows up. He is in good health.
