School Grade 8

Britney is the second born in a family of three children. She was born in 2009 in Uozi village, Mfangano West Location in Mfangano Division. Her father passed on in 2014 after a long illness and left Britney and her siblings under the care of thier mother. Britney’s mother sells vegetables in order to provide for her family and also educate her children,  which has not been easy.

At the time of Britney’s enrollment, her oldest sibling, Sylvan, was learning at Tristar Academy in grade five. The third born, Joel Junior was learning at Uozi primary in KG1. Britney’s mother has struggled to pay school tuition and provide for, including feeding her children.  Often, Britney and her siblings would be sent home from school because her mother did not have the money for tuition. It would take her mother several days before they could get back to school. This interfered with their academic performance.

While at home, Britney sleep in her mother’s iron-roofed, mud-walled house on a mat and covers herself with a blanket.

Before joining GGCC, Britney was learning at Tristar Academy in KG3.

Britney was admitted to GGCC in January of 2016, as an orphan and vulnerable child after being vetted by the vetting committee. She was admitted in KG3. She was so happy to join GGCC, where she will learn without any interruptions like being sent home for lack of tuition.

At GGCC, she will sleep well, get all the three meals per day and enjoy the good learning environment. Britney is hopeful in life and she would like to work hard and become a teacher when she grows up. She likes playing hide and seek.
