Both of Billia's parents died of HIV/AIDS in 2007, and she and her sister went to live with their aunt and uncle who have five children of their own plus an orphaned nephew. The uncle does small scale fishing which does not supply enough income to provide basic needs for a family of 10.

During school breaks, Billia will sleep on a mat at her uncle's house, or in a bed at her grandmother's house. Billia helps at home by sweeping the house.

Billia is a bright child and mingles easily at GGCC. She loves to swing and play hide and seek.

Billia joined GGCC in 2012.
