School Grade 7

Austine is the last born in a family of four children. He was born in Takawiri Island in Mfangano East location. His father died while he was young and he was left under the care of his mother who is a fish monger. Although she works, her income if often dependent on the season and is usually not enough to provide for the family’s basic needs, much less their educational requirements.

His first born sibling Diana is learning at Ringa Girls High school in grade 10, the second and third born Byron and Watar are learning at Sindo primary school and both are in grade 3, where they are staying with their Aunt.

Austine has been sent home from school because his mother could not pay for his fees. His education has been interrupted often. Austine was vetted to join GGCC as an orphaned and vulnerable child in grade 2. His best subject is mathematics. He is growing well and takes all the three meals a day. He can learn without interruption or distraction. He likes playing football and plays well with his peers.

Austine is not sure what he wants to become when he grows up.
