Angel is the third born child in a family of five children. She was born in 2012 in Remba village, Mfangano South location. Her father died leaving Angel and her siblings under the care of their mother.  Their mother did not work prior to their father’s death, and it has been an immense struggle since then.

Angel’s mother sells groceries but on a very small scale. It is often difficult for her to provide food for the children, even just one meal. There have been times when they were only able to have black tea for their meals.  Sometimes Angel's mother falls ill and she is unable to work, making the burden on the family that much more intense.  In addition to hardships they face around food, Angel’s mother has not been able to consistently pay for her children to go to school. Angel has missed classes and fallen behind in her academics.

Angel and her siblings, Vivian grade 11, Sandra grade 6, and Godfrey grade 1 attend Remba Primary School when they can afford to go. The youngest child, Edwin, is not old enough to attend school yet. Angel was invited to join GGCC in 2022 in grade 3 as an orphaned and vulnerable child.

Her mother is so grateful for the opportunity granted to Angel to learn at GGCC. She believes that Angel’s life will change in many ways. Angel is also excited and happy to join a boarding school. She likes the school environment which is conducive for learning.

At GGCC, Angel will learn without missing classes, get three meals a day, and have help in administering her medications. Angel will have the opportunity to focus on her academics. As of now, she would like to become a doctor.  During her leisure time, she likes playing netball and soccer. Angel has a hearing issue that the school staff will monitor.
