Tarquin O. 1337

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 5

Tarquin is the youngest in a family of six children. He was born in Ugina village in 2014. Both of his parents are alive, but his father is physically disabled and cannot work. Tarquin’s mother, who is now the sole breadwinner, is just a peasant farmer and struggles to support the family. Tarquin’s uncle helped support the family the best that he could until his death.

Due to the large size of this family, providing basic needs for Tarquin and his siblings has been a challenge. Often they would be sent home from school due to lack of school levies, scholastic materials and even uniforms. Because of this, his oldest sister dropped out of school in grade 11 after getting pregnant. The second born is learning at Odero Obara in grade 11. The third born is learning at Mauta secondary school in grade 9. The fourth born is living with a relative in Homa Bay, where he is enrolled in school there in grade 6. The fifth born is learning at Mauta primary school in grade 4.

Tarquin was vetted to join GGCC in January of 2019 from Ugina junior Academy where he was learning. Although he has both parents, he was enrolled as a vulnerable child. He is so happy to join GGCC where he will learn without the interruptions of being sent home for school levies and scholastic materials. He will get all the three meals provided at the school.

Tarquin is promising to work hard so as to become an Engineer.  His best subject is Mathematics.

During his leisure time, he likes playing soccer and participating in other athletics.
