Job O. 1713

Grade Male: 9th - 12th Gr.

School Grade 11

Job Okoth was born in 2008 and lives in Ramba village of Mfangano island. He is the second born child in a family of four children. His father’s name is Joseph Maziga and his mother’s name is Sophia. His mother died while Job was still very young. Job currently lives with his father and stepmother. His father is the breadwinner of the family and works fixing electrical faults in households around Mfangano. Although his father works, he doesn’t make enough to fully take care of his family. Job has faced challenges through out his young life both physically and academically. He has missed quite a bit of school when his father couldn’t afford to pay the fees. Not having his mother from a very young age has also affected him socially. His paternal grandfather offers support to Job when he can. And sometimes Job stays with him.

Job’s oldest sister is Vivian Akinyi. She attends Vera Beauty College in Nairobi. His younger sister, Lavine Engrid, attends Kakrigu Primary School in grade 7. The youngest in the family is Brinix Rodgers and he attends Homabay Academy in grade 1. Job was learning at Ramba Primary School before joining GGCC. He completed through grade 8 and sat for his national exams there.

Job was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He is so happy, and his family is so grateful to God having been given this opportunity to learn at GGCC.  While at GGCC, Job will not face the challenges he faced while at home. He will get all the three meals a day, a quality education, the love and support his needs and assistance with maintaining his medication treatment and health.  And most importantly, he will get to hear the gospel daily. Job would like to become an engineer and his best subject is geography.
