Divone is the second born child in a family of four children. She was born on July 24, 2006, in Wakinga village, Mfangano Island, east location. Her father passed away from lung cancer in 2012 and left Divone and her siblings under the care of their mother. Their situation was very desperate. Not only did they not have food and educational materials, but they also didn’t have adequate shelter. GGCC was able to step in and help this family by building them a house.

For the last several years, Divone has lived with her aunt and her cousins. Her aunt is also widowed, but she is able to help with a little more of the basic needs for Divone. Although there are still times when there is not enough food in the home.

Divone was learning at Rinya Primary School where she completed the grade 8 national exams. Her older sister, Meroline, is in grade 10. Her younger sister, Queen Ashley, is in grade 6 at GGCC. Her younger brother, Tom, is in grade 10.

Divone was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She is so happy about joining GGCC and learning at the same school as Queen Ashley. Divone loves the environment which is suitable for learning. She likes the teachers and her fellow students who are so friendly. Divone believes that her life will never be the same again. Divone would like to study to become a nurse. During her leisure time, she likes playing netball. She is in good health.
