School Grade 11

Daniel was born in 2008 and comes from Kaswanga village of Mfangano Island. He is the third born child in a family of six children. His father’s name is Daniel and his mother’s name is Mourine. Daniel currently lives with his mother. David’s father passed away when he was very young during the HIV/Aids pandemic that swept through Mfangano leaving many children orphaned.  His mother is the breadwinner of the family. Daniel’s mother does menial jobs to provide for her children, however, more often than not, she does not earn enough to put three meals a day on the table. They often only have 2 and sometimes just porridge. Daniel’s attendance at school has also been affected, when they were not able to afford to pay the school fees.

Daniel joined GGCC in 2022 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He joins his older brothers Ryan who is learning in Gethsemane Garden high school in grade 12 and Mike who is in grade 10. His younger sisters Joy Ashley and Nereah attend Ramba Primary School. His youngest sibling Ty Blessious does not attend school yet.  

At GGCC, Daniel will not face the challenges he faced at home, for food is in abundant supply thanks to God’s Grace and Providence. Daniel will also not be sent home for school fees.  Besides education, he will also get spiritual nourishment. Daniel’s favorite subject is mathematics, and he is a member of the Gethsemane High School Band. Daniel would like to become a doctor. He enjoys swimming.
