School Grade 11

Clinton was born in 2007 and comes from Gingo village of Suba south.  He is the fourth born child in a family of six children. Clinton’s father’s name is Ibrahim and his mother’s name is Joyce. Clinton currently lives with both of his parents. His mother, who is the main bread winner, does odd jobs, including the selling of groceries, to provide for the family. His father helps supplement their income by fishing. However, he does not own his own nets or boat. Even though both parents are working, they struggle to meet the basic needs of their family. And to compound the financial struggles, both of Clinton’s parents are HIV positive. They can’t afford the proper medication consistently, which causes them to become sick more often. This has attributed to the challenges this family has faced. Clinton has missed school when they could not afford to pay the school fee which has affected his academic performance. Clinton often takes only 2 meals a day. 

Clinton’s siblings include Boniface Hassan who has completed grade 12, Edwin Yusuf who has completed grade 12, Alex Ali who is in grade 10 at BL Tezza High school, Eurelia Caroline who is in grade 1 at GGA and Rachel Nawire who is too young to attend school. 

Before joining GGCC, Clinton was learning at Gingo Primary where he completed the 8th grade. On his national exams he scored the high marks of 369 out of 500. Clinton was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in grade 9 as a vulnerable child. His parents are so grateful for the opportunity granted to Clinton to learn at GGCC. Clinton is equally happy and excited. He likes the school environment which is so conducive for learning with modern learning materials. He likes the teachers and the students who are so friendly. 

At GGCC, Clinton will not miss classes due to lack of school fees and he will also get all three meals a day, which he was missing at home. Clinton received salvation when he joined GGCC. Clinton likes drawing in his free time and his favorite subject is physics.
