Sharon was born in 2006 and comes from Wasamo Village on Mfangano Island. Sharon is the oldest child in her family of five children. Sharon lives with her parents. Her father is a fisherman, and her mother does peasant farming in order to provide for their household. Although both of Sharon’s parents work, they often don’t make enough to sustain the needs of their large family. There have been times when they weren’t able to provide three meals a day as well as pay for Sharon’s education. She has been sent home from school for lack of payment. This took a toll on her academic performance.

Sharon’s siblings include Candy Rea, Lizar Atieno, Elly Ouma and Albrida Ochieng in grades 1, 5, 6 and 8 respectively at Wasamo Primary School. Before joining GGCC, Sharon went to Agoro Yombe Secondary School.

Sharon joined GGCC in 2022 in grade 10 as a vulnerable child. She has seen many changes in her life since joining GGCC, as she gave her life to Christ after hearing about the Hope Jesus brings. Sharon loves the learning environment and can concentrate on her studies without the interruption of being sent home for lack of payment.  She also has the necessary tools and resources for her education.

Sharon’s favorite hobbies are playing soccer and dancing in church. Sharon would love to pursue further education to become an accountant after graduation.
