Samwel was born on June 16, 2005 in Wamai village, in Mfangano Island, South location. He is the youngest child in a family of three children. His father died in 2008 and left Samwel and his siblings under the care of their mother who is a peasant farmer, which is not a sustainable form of income. Not only do they struggle with food, but also in paying for school fees.

Samwel’s oldest sister Edith Brenda completed high school at GGHS and his other sister, Quinter Akoth,  is in Form 3 at Sena Secondary. Samwel was learning at Wamai Primary School prior to joining GGCC. He completed his grade 8 national exams obtaining 326 marks out of 500 marks.

Samwel was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He and his mother are so grateful to God for the chance he has been granted to learn at GGCC. Samwel loves the GGCC environment which is suitable for learning. He also likes the spiritual nourishment offered at GGCC. He will not miss any more classes for lack of school fees. He will have the scholastic materials he needs for class and will have the proper uniforms. He will also receive 3 meals a day. He would like to become an engineer and his best subject in mathematics.

During his leisure time, Samwel likes playing soccer, volleyball and baseball. He is in good health.
