Grade Male: 9th - 12th Gr.

School Grade 11

Robert was born in 2006 and comes from Kitenyi Village of Mfangano Island. He is the oldest of 4 children. Although both of his parents are living, he resides with his mother because his parents are separated. Robert’s mother, Jackline, makes and burns charcoal as a way of earning income, which is considered an illegal activity. His father, Samwel, is not supporting Robert or his siblings.  They have faced significant challenges as a family. Robert has gone hungry when there wasn’t enough to eat. He has missed school when they couldn’t afford to pay for it.

Robert’s younger sister, Laureen, is in grade 7 at Kitenyi Primary School. The two youngest siblings, Terry Joy and Donwix are both in grade 1 at Bethesda Joyland Academy in Kitenyi Village.

Robert joined GGCC in 2022 in grade 9 as a vulnerable child. His mother is so grateful to God for the opportunity granted to Robert. While at GGCC, Robert will not face the challenges he faced previously. He will have three meals a day, be able to stay in school and concentrate on his academics.  Robert has shared that since joining GGCC, he has gained confidence and courage in speaking to others. He loves math and English as well as the spiritual nourishment offered daily at GGCC. He loves to praise God! Thanks to GGCC, Robert now has a better chance to change become a journalist and change the course of his life.
