School Grade 6

Natasha is the third born child in a family of four children. She was born in Wakinga village, Mfangano East location in 2014. Her father died and left Natasha and her siblings under the care of her mother who is now the sole breadwinner. She sells fish on a small scale in order to provide some support to her family. However, the little amount of money she earns does not come close to paying for her children’s school fees, especially the older children in high school. Sometimes she relies on relatives and well-wishers to pay for Natasha and her other siblings school fees. She also does not have her own housing and rents which is an additional burden for the family.

Natasha’s oldest sister, Venesa is learning at Ambassador Pamela Mboya Girls School in grade 12. The second born, Ishmael, is in grade 10 at Orero Boys High School, while the last born, Mary, is learning at Sindo Primary School in PP2. Natasha was also learning at Sindo Primary School before joining GGCC.

Natasha was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in grade 3 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She is so happy together with her mother for the opportunity she has been given to continue with her studies. This is a big relief for the mother who has been struggling a lot to care for Natasha and her siblings. Natasha likes the school environment which is conducive for learning. At GGCC, she will learn without being sent home or missing classes due to lack of school levies. This will help her to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor. During her leisure time she likes playing soccer.

Natasha is a suffering from sickle cell anemia. She is being cared for and provided the right treatment through GGCC.
