School Grade 7

Michelle was born in Soklo village Mfangano North Location. She is the second born in a family of three children. Her father who was Agriculture Officer passed on in 2013 after a long illness. After this Michelle and her siblings were left under the care of her mother who also has responsibility of taking care of her co-wife’s five children who passed on in 2005.

Michelle’s elder sibling Nelvis is learning at Mt. View in grade 1, while the last born is still a baby and not yet school going. Mitchelle’s mother is the one staying with Paul Omondi, Joy Omondi and their siblings.

Michelle’s mother has a huge responsibility of taking care of her own children and others she was left with.  Due to the big family and responsibility, feeding and paying school levies has been a problem as she mainly depends on farm produce.

While at home, Michelle takes two to three meals daily depending on the season. She sleeps in her mother’s house on a mattress and covers self with a blanket.

Michelle joined GGCC in January 2015 in KG1 due to the huge responsibility and big family that her mother has.

She is happy to join GGCC where her step brother and sister, Paul and Joy, are learning. She loves the environment and the way the teachers are committed to their work.

In GGCC she eats well and plays well with her fellow pupils. She sleep well on a bed and covers self with a blanket.

She would like to become a journalist when she grows up.
