School Grade Kindergarten

Merceline was born in 2017 in Soklo Village in Mfangano North location. She is the second born child in a family of three children. Her father died leaving Merceline and her silbings, under the care of their mother who has some mental challenges but works as a peasant farmer to help support her family. Merceline’s family often relies on the help from well-wishers and relatives to help them meet their basic needs.

Her sister Jenipher is already enrolled and learning at GGA in grade 3. She has a younger brother, Calvince.

Merceline and her family have really struggled since their father’s passing. He was the main provider for his family and after his death, Merceline’s mother has really struggled to meet even the most basic needs of food for her family.  Merceline at times would only take two meals a day depending on the availability. She has missed classes due to lack of school levies, sometimes taking as much as 3 days before returning to school with the fees paid.  

Merceline was learning at Nyalkembo Primary School before joining GGCC. She joined GGCC in February of 2023 in PP1 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She is happy to join GGCC. Her mother is also grateful to God and the management of GGCC for the opportunity granted to her daughter. Merceline is an outgoing girl.  She likes the school compound, mostly the playground. At GGCC, Merceline will learn without any fear of missing classes due to lack of school levies or uniforms. She will get all the three meals that will boost her nutrition and growth. She will sleep on an actual bed.

Merceline would like to become a teacher when she grows up.  During her leisure time, she likes playing with her peers and athletics. She is in good health.
