Josephine O. 1343

Grade Female: 9th - 12th Gr.

School Grade 11

Josephine has had a very difficult start to her young life. Not only did she loose both of her parents, but she also lost her only sibling. In July of 2018, her grandmother and only living relative on Kisumu passed away. An aunt, who is married and lives on Mfangano Island, Milundu village, took Josephine in. She burns charcoal in order to provide for the family. Burning charcoal is a difficult and dangerous job, not to mention, it doesn’t pay well.  Paying for school levies and providing for scholastic materials has been a struggle, often, causing Josephine to have to stay at home until her Aunt was able to make enough money to send her back.  And often, they are only able to take two meals a day.

Before joining GGCC, Josephine was learning at Wasamo Primary School. She was admitted to GGCC in grade 6 as orphaned and vulnerable child in January of 2019. She and her aunt are very grateful to God for the opportunity that he has provided for Josephine to join GGCC. She will now be able to learn without any interruptions. She will also have all the required scholastic materials she needs as well as 3 meals a day.

Josephine would like to work hard to become a nurse. Her best subject is English.

During her leisure time, she likes playing with her friends.
