Joseph O. 1503

Grade Male: 9th - 12th Gr.

School Grade 12

Joseph was born in 2004 in Kiwari village, Mfangano West location. He is the second to last born child in a family of nine children. His father was a polygamous and had three wives. Joseph’s mother was the younger of the wives. Unfortunately, his father passed away and Joseph and his siblings were left under the care of their mother. She has struggled to provide for her large family as just a peasant farmer. Due to the poverty level this family has faced, Joseph has missed a lot of the basics, like three meals a day and a solid education. Most of his siblings are adults, but Joseph and his younger brother, Felix, have missed school because their mother didn’t have the money to pay for the fees or other materials they needed. Joseph has even gone to school without shoes.

Thankfully, GGCC has stepped in to help Joseph. He joins his brother Felix at GGCC in grade 9. He was admitted in January of 2020. He was formerly learning at Wakiangata Primary School. He scored a 290 marks on his 8th grade national exams in 2018, high enough to join a high school, but because he couldn’t afford to pay for it, he wasn’t able to go on. Joseph and his mother are so grateful to God and to the management of GGCC for this opportunity. He can now continue to pursue his education and work towards his goal of becoming a pilot.

During leisure time, he likes playing soccer ball and volleyball. He is in good health.
