Jim's father was a secondary school teacher before his death in 2008. His mother, a housewife, died in 2011. After his father died, Jim and his siblings moved to Mfangano Island with their their grandmother, who is a subsistence farmer.

Jim is happy to be at GGCC because his teachers are striving to teach him to read properly. He appreciates his teachers and the way they treat him. Jim is now position 4 in his class! He says that he loves the White people who come to GGCC! He would like to be a pilot.

Jim joined GGCC in January 2013.
