Jenipher was born in 2013 in Soklo village, Mfangano North location. She is the first born child in a family of three children. Her father died in 2016 and left Jenipher and her siblings under the care of their mother who is paralyzed, has mental health concerns and only works as a peasant farmer when she can. Jenipher’s mother heavily depends on well-wishers for support. The difficulties this family faces are immense. Jenipher may only take two meals a day and sometimes just porridge. She has missed a lot of school because her mother could not afford to send her. When she was able to attend, she went in torn uniforms and without the basic supplies she needed for her study. Her performance in school has suffered because of all that she faces. She has even gone to stay with a relative so that she could attend Nyalkembo Primary School. Her younger two siblings, Merceline and Calvince, are not school age yet, so they stay at home with their mother.

Jenipher was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in PP2 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She is happy to join GGCC. Her mother is also grateful to God and the management of GGCC for the opportunity granted to her daughter. Jenipher is optimistic that her life will never be the same again. She knows she can learn without fear of missing school. She also knows that she’s guaranteed three meals a day. She will have a bed to sleep in and the support of her teachers. In fact, she’d like to become a teacher one day. She likes the school compound and really enjoys the playground. She is in good health.
