School Grade 12

Javan was born on February 22, 2005 in Ramba village of Mfangano North location. He is the youngest child in a family of seven children, all boys. His mother died when Javon was very young. He and his siblings were left under the care of their father. His father has since remarried and that has been a difficult situation between Javan and his stepmother.

Javan’s father does not have his own fishing equipment, so he works for others on their boats. This limits the among of money that he can make and subsequently this is not a reliable source of income. Javan’s father has struggled to provide food and scholastic fees and materials for his large family.  Javan has missed school or attended without the proper materials or uniforms. In addition to the challenges with paying for school, Javan’s father cannot always provide 3 meals a day. Their family has occasionally gone without. However, throughout all the challenges this family has faced, several of Javan’s older siblings have gone on to college. Three of his oldest brothers are married.

Javon has managed to complete 8^th grade at Kakrigu Primary School before qualifying to join the high school at GGCC. He was admitted in August of 2021 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. He is so happy about joining GGCC. Javan loves the school environment and the spiritual nourishment offered in GGCC. He also likes the teachers and the students who are so friendly. He will no longer miss classes again due to lack of school fee and this will help him concentrate on his studies and meet his dream of becoming a pilot in the future.  His best subject is mathematics. Javan likes playing soccer and he is in good health.
