Isaiah O. 1431

Grade Male: Kindergarten - 8th Gr.

School Grade 6

Isaiah was born in 2010 in Ringiti village, Mfangano West location. He is the sixth born child in a family of seven children. Both of his parents are alive and his father works as a fisherman. However, his father does not have his own nets, but fishes in other’s nets. Fishing is hard work and is very seasonal. When the catch is low, the family suffers from the little income that he receives. And having such a large family to feed, it’s difficult to provide enough. In addition to the financial struggle, both of Isaiah’s face health challenges that puts an additional strain on the family. They sometimes have to choose between food, medicine or schooling for the children.

Isaiah’s two oldest siblings, Saline and Sharon, dropped out of school when they were in grades 8 and 7, respectively. The third born, Florence, is learning at Kanyibok Mixed Secondary School in grade 12.  The fourth born, Damarice, is learning at St. Treezer Girls Secondary school in Awasi in grade 10. The fifth born, Emmanuel, is learning in Ringiti Primary School in grade 5, while the seventh born, Joseph, is too young for school and remains at home with his parents.

Isaiah was learning in Ringiti Primary School in grade 3 before joining GGCC. He was admitted to GGCC in January of 2020 in grade two as vulnerable child. He is so excited to join GGCC. His parents are also happy and grateful to God for the opportunity granted to their son.  Isaiah likes the school environment and his fellow pupils. He knows that he will be able to learn without fear of being sent home for school fees and hence be able to concentrate on his studies. He will take all the three meals daily and sleep well on a bed.  Isaiah would like to become a police officer when he grows up.  During his leisure time, Isaiah likes playing soccer. He is in good health.
