Griphine was born on July 3rd, 2005 in Rusinga Island in Warengo village. He is the fifth born in a family of six children. Both of his parents are alive, but his father faces major health problems and is bedridden and has been unable to work for over 7 years. His mother fishes in other’s boats in order to provide what little she can. Because this is often not enough to feed her large family, Griphine has been taken in by his maternal grandmother. However, his grandmother is a peasant farmer and makes very little income. She still struggles to provide all of the basic needs for him and several other grandchildren she is helping to raise.

Griphine’s oldest sister, Violet, is married.  Two other siblings, Snaider and Felix have completed high school. Jared and Lencer are still in primary school. Griphine was learning at Wakiangata Primary School where he completed grade 8. However, he missed quite a bit of school when his grandmother and mother could not afford to pay for it.

Griphine was admitted into GGCC in August of 2021 in grade 9 as vulnerable child. His mother and grandmother are so grateful for the opportunity granted to Griphine to learn at GGCC. Griphine is eqaully grateful and excited to join GGCC and thanks God for answering his prayers. He know that while at GGCC,  he will not miss his classes and he will be able to concentrate on his studies. He will also have access to the scholastic materials he was lacking in his former school.

Griphine likes the school environment and the quality education offered at GGCC. He likes the teachers who are so friendly and dedicated to their work. He enjoys the deep spiritual teachings offered at GGCC. He is born again and received Christ while still in primary school. Griphine would like to work hard to become a doctor in the future. His best subject is Mathematics. During his leisure time, he likes playing table tennis. He is in good health.
