Euphine was born on September 28, 2006 in Wasamo village, Mfangano West location on Mfangano Island. She is the second born child in a family of five children, all born to a single mother. Euphine was immediately taken in by her maternal grandmother who has cared for her and her siblings their entire lives. Euphine’s grandmothers only source of income is from peasant farming. Although she was willing to take in all of the children, she is barely able to put food on the table. What she earns from farming is never enough to both feed and educate such a large family. She is dependent on other relatives and well wishers for additional support.

Euphine’s siblings include Aurelia Achieng (Form 3 Kakiimba Secondary School), Sleria Akinyi (Grade 1 Wasamo Primary), Hazel Akinyi (Wasamo Primary) and Eugene Odhiambo (not old enough for school). Euphine was leaning at Wasamo Primary School where she sat for her grade 8 national exams. She scored 323 out of 500 marks, earning her the opportunity to join GGCC.

Euphine was admitted to GGCC in August of 2021 in grade 9 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. She is so happy about joining GGCC. Her grandmother is also very grateful to God and the management for inviting Euphine to learn at GGCC. She loves the peaceful environment, which is so suitable for learning.

At GGCC, Euphine will learn without missing classes due to lack of school levies. She will get all the three meals, which she was missing at home. This will help her to concentrate on her studies and be able to achieve her goal of becoming a nurse in the future. Her best subject is Biology. Euphine accepted Christ when she joined GGCC and she is walking with the Lord.

During her leisure time, she likes playing volleyball and soccer. She is in good health.
