Elsha was born on March 18, 2012 in Kaswanga village in Soklo North sub location, Mfangano Division. She is the fourth born child in a family of five children comprising of two girls and three boys. Both of Elsha’s parents have passed away. At the time, her stepmother took Elsha and her siblings in to care for them. Elsha’s stepmother also has her own children to care for and works only as a peasant farmer.  Peasant farming is not a sustainable or secure source of income, especially for such a large family. Elsha and her siblings have struggled mightily in just getting their basic needs met. Food and money for education were a struggle for Elsha’s stepmother.

Through the help of other relatives and well wishers, Elsha’s older siblngs have managed to finish some school. Her oldest sibling Evans finished high school and is now married. The second and third born siblings are currently attending college. The youngest, Ruth, attends Kagunga Primary School in 1^st grade. This is where Elsha was attending also prior to joining GGCC. 

Elsha was admitted to GGCC in 2022 in grade 4 as a total orphan and vulnerable child. She is so happy to join GGCC and prays that the Lord will help her to do well in school. Her stepmother is also very grateful to the administration for considering Elsha to learn in GGCC. This is a great relief and she believes that Elsha’s life will not be the same.

At GGCC, Elsha will learn without interruption or fear of being sent home from school because of lack of payments. This will help her to concentrate on her academics and meet her life dream of becoming a nurse in the future. She likes the school environment, the teachers and pupils. Her best subjects are mathematics and science. She loves playing netball during her leisure time.
