School Grade 2

Digital is the youngest child in a family of four children. She was born in 2017 in Wakiangata Village, in Mfangano North location. Her father passed away and Digital and her siblings are under the care of their mother as the sole breadwinner of the family. Digital and her siblings have really struggled since their father’s passing. He was the main provider for his family and after his death, Digital’s mother has really struggled to meet even the most basic needs of food for her family. She dries fish for people to support her family, but it is not enough.  At times, they would only take two meals a day depending on the availability. She, together with his siblings have missed classes due to lack of school levies, taking sometimes as much as 3 days before returning to school with the fees paid.  

All three of her older siblings attend Wakiangata Primary School. The oldest, Talia is in grade 6. The second born sibling, Jokins is in grade 2, while the third born Helida is in grade PP2. Digital was learning at Kageno primary school before joining GGCC.

Digital joined GGCC in February of 2023 in grade 1 as an orphaned and vulnerable child. Her mother is so grateful to God for the opportunity granted to her daughter. Digital is also happy and excited about joining a boarding school. She likes the school environment and the friendly teachers.

At GGCC, Digital will not miss her lessons due to lack of school levies. This will help her to concentrate on her studies and become a nurse in the future.  She likes playing with skipping ropes. Digital is in good health.
