Devant is one of 4 children.  His father died in 2005 and his widowed mother does odd jobs, like carrying water from the lake or re-mudding houses for people in order to provide meager support for her family.  She also trawls other fishrmen's nets to get commission or a little fish for a meal or two, and she does some small scale farming.   Because there have been many deaths in the extended family leaving more widows and orphans, there is no hope of assistance from family members.

At GGCC, Devant loves reading and math.

Devant joined GGCC in 2012.
